In the context of architectural scholarship in Indonesia and in the world, UIN Maulana Maik Ibrahim Malang gives color to the main concept, namely “Islamic Architecture”.
What is meant by Islamic architecture is that architectural science and professional products related to it are expected to always be based on the principles of the Islamic religion. Architecture in the process of making designs up to architecture has great advantages for violating Islamic law. Such as environmental destruction, negative behavior such as fraud, corruption and waste. Plus, most architects don’t understand that it’s not the right thing to do. Islamic principles in architecture are expected to change this. Islam can purify and even provide input for architectural designs that are distinctive and meaningful and aimed at worshiping Allah SWT.
Thus, Islamic Understanding becomes an additional competency that must exist for UIN Malang students, as the basis for the mindset of Islamic shelter in the architectural science studied.
